On (hiking) path with RTV Sternet along farmyards and raised bog. This 10 km long walking route takes you past farmyards and through the White Bog where rough grasslands, pools, heathland, forest and raised bog alternate. In the moor there is a good chance that you will meet the Scottish Highlanders. They may be just lying on the path, you may see them at one of the pools or they may be grazing. Useful work, by the way; they keep the area nice and open and provide variation in plant growth.

Bees, store and apartments

With the Buurserbeek in the backyard, on a side road off the Beekweg, lies Erve Hanebulten. Farmer Frans and wife Monique changed course around 2007. Where for years the yard was the domain of chickens, pigs and cows, now bees, the country store and farm apartments take center stage. Frans has made his passion his profession and is now primarily a beekeeper. Beekeeping and specifically the cultivation of purebred queen bees has his complete devotion. As a mentor of beekeepers association de Heidebloem, he likes to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for bees with others. So too with Monique, meanwhile she also has quite a bit of bee knowledge. The tourist activities on the farm, the country store, the rest point and the guesthouses are mainly Monique's business, where Frans supports her with the necessary hand-and-span services.

Buurse outside

As with Erve Hanebulten, at Erve 't Markslag the tourist is the center of attention. Just before the (green) border crossing right next to the yard's 17th-century main farmhouse, families and friends can spend a wonderful night in the Heerenkamer and Bakhuis. The Heerenkamer was once the temporary residence of hunters during hunting parties. The name of the Bakhuis says it all, in this outbuilding bread was once baked. From a collaboration between Natuurmonumenten and Natuurlogies, both accommodations have been completely renovated and tastefully furnished with all comforts for a wonderful stay. You are really outside here with a beautiful panoramic view of the Witte Veen. Enjoy the Twente outdoor life to the fullest.

Nature camping

The tourist has several accommodation options at the edge of the Witte Veen. In addition to apartments, B&B, group stays, campers can park their camper, caravan or tent on the grounds of Camping De Meene from April through October. Part of the campsite is a recognized nature campsite. Here you are somewhat secluded from the playground and the rest of the campsite. Absolutely you will find peace and quiet among the rustling treetops and singing birds. The pitches on the rest of the campground are diverse with each having its own look and feel. One spot has a good view of the playground equipment, useful if you have young children, the other spot is more sheltered between the trees or is delimited by a hedge.

Eat and play

The Hooge Esch is the perfect place to end a walk through the White Moor. In fine weather you can relax on the spacious terrace and in bad weather inside 'the barn' where the fireplace burns in colder weather. Specialty of the family restaurant are the delicious pancakes. Sweet or savory, you can choose from more than 35 variations. Naturally baked according to traditional methods; fresh batter every day with milk from a local farmer and baked in the frying pan with the ingredients. Are there children along? Plenty of fun for them in the outdoor or indoor play area. And the cooks bake special little kids' pancakes. Such a Disney, Dino, Calimero.... tastes delicious after all the hiking and playing fun.
